Winter-like Weather is Forecast Following the Thanksgiving Storm
Some significant post-Thanksgiving changes are on the way, with winter-like temperatures expected by the weekend. Thanksgiving Day will be a washout, with much-needed rain to ease drought conditions.
The most current drought monitor shows essentially little improvement from the previous week despite a couple of inches of rain over Massachusetts. Rain may fall heavily at times, particularly in the afternoon, with higher elevations probably seeing snow mixed in.

Light accumulations are likely in Southern New Hampshire by nightfall. With larger totals in the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont. The rain and snow will stop from west to east around late evening.
As the storm passes, drier weather returns by Friday, leaving a partly overcast sky and temperatures close to normal. Rain chances are reduced for the ten days following Thanksgiving, with some light mountain snow showers expected Friday.
The weekend will be cooler, with highs in the mid-30s to lower 40s and nighttime lows in the teens and 20s. This frigid pattern will last until early next week, with daytime temperatures failing to exceed 40°F and freezing evenings in the teens and 20s.
