At Least Ten People Died Because of the Deadly Hurricane Milton
On Thursday, rescue workers rescued Florida residents from the debris left by Hurricane Milton, which blew over coastal villages, ripping homes apart, flooding streets with mud, and unleashing a barrage of devastating tornadoes. At least ten people died.
Arriving just two weeks after Hurricane Helene's havoc, the system knocked out power for over 3 million people, flooded barrier islands, ripped the roof off a baseball stadium, and toppled a construction crane.
Hurricane Milton rescues saves a lonely child
Among the most remarkable rescues, Hillsborough County officers found a 14-year-old boy floating on a piece of fence and took him to a boat.
Moreover, a Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued a guy who was clinging to an ice chest in the Gulf of Mexico after his fishing boat got stuck in waters roiled by Hurricane Milton.
According to the agency, the guy endured winds of 75 to 90 mph (121 to 145 kph) and waves up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) high during his night on the water.
