Weather Forecast: Rain Could Affect New Year’s Eve Celebrations
This New Year's Eve, much of the United States will welcome a wet 2025.
Temperatures in New York City, where the ball will drop before a million spectators in Times Square, are forecast to be in the upper 40s to low 50s at midnight. Forecasters predicted that precipitation would rise during the evening as the system moved across the Northeast and over the eastern US.
Lightning is possible, according to the media forecasting company. It also predicted rain from the Midwest to southern New England and down to North Carolina.
Rain may damper New Year's Eve celebrations

Temperatures will be above normal in the east on Tuesday, with highs expected to reach 81 degrees in Miami, 66 degrees in Atlanta, 62 degrees in Washington, D.C., 53 in Boston, and 39 degrees in Chicago.

In Los Angeles, temperatures will reach the mid-60s, while Phoenix will exceed 70 degrees. Denver will be cool, with highs in the mid-30s.

Thunderstorms are expected in New Jersey on Tuesday, but no snow is anticipated.

Flood advisories were issued throughout the California coast on Monday, and temperatures were anticipated to drop. Yet, rain was not expected in San Francisco until Friday.
