Storm Darragh Has Left Thousands of People in the UK without Power
Storm Darragh ripped over the UK, leaving tens of thousands of people without power for another night. The final yellow weather warning for wind in England and Wales expired on Sunday evening as the storm moved on to Europe.
Throughout the day, gusts of up to 58 mph inland and 67 mph on the coast were reported, and traffic disruptions remained.
Dozens of flood warnings remain in effect throughout the UK as river levels rise following days of downpours, while localized clean-up efforts continue to clear fallen trees and debris.
Thousands remain without power after Storm Darragh Hits UK
As of 19:00 GMT on Sunday, around 118,000 customers were without power due to damage caused by Darragh, according to the Energy Networks Association, which represents energy networks in the United Kingdom.
However, it said that network operators have restored power to 1.8 million customers, or 94% of those impacted by storm-related outages.
When asked about the government's response to the storm, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner told the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme: "We saw two people die, and there was significant disruption.
In fact, Storm Darragh was the fourth named storm of the season, after Bert and Conall last month.
