7.0 Earthquake Hits Northern California with At Least 55 Aftershocks
The United States Geological Survey detected a 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Northern California on Thursday. The USGS said that the epicenter of the "strong" quake occurred off the coast at Petrolia in Humboldt County.
In addition, a tsunami warning for coastal areas in California and Oregon, including San Francisco, was canceled shortly before noon local time.

"The tsunami warning has been canceled for the coastal areas of California and Oregon," the National Tsunami Warning Center announced on X. "No tsunami danger presently exists for this area."
The National Tsunami Warning Center stated that the warning extended from Davenport, California, to Douglas/Lane Line, Oregon.
According to the USGS, at least 55 aftershocks were observed following the initial 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Some of them registered above 4.0.
Although there were no reports of serious damage or casualties in the Bay Area, the 7.0 tremblor had an impact on local businesses further north, near the quake's epicenter.
